Peanut butter banana frozen yogurt bars are lightly sweet and cooling on a hot summer day. Keep a batch in the freezer for a fast, healthy snack or dessert!

During the warmer months all I crave most afternoons is something cool and refreshing like smoothies and ice cream. Lucky for me, popsicles are super easy to make at home. Not only does this give me the flexibility to choose my own ingredients and flavors, but it often ends up saving me money too. Win-win situation!
Peanut butter and banana is one of my favorite flavor pairings, so I'm so excited to bring you these frozen yogurt bars.
Why This Dietitian Loves This Recipe
What's so great about frozen yogurt bars anyway?
- Balanced blood sugar. Since these are frozen Greek yogurt bars, they've got some extra protein to stabilize our energy levels. No energy crashes here.
- Family friendly. My whole family loves these bars and so will yours. What kid doesn't love a frozen dessert? Get everyone involved and enjoy them together.
- Pantry staples. You likely have most of these ingredients already!
Instructions
In a high powered blender combine peanut butter, Greek yogurt, bananas, honey and milk and blend until smooth.
Pour into silicone popsicle molds (recipe will make 4-6 depending on the size of the mold). Place a popsicle stick into each mold and freeze for 3-5 hours (or until fully set).
Once frozen, remove bars from the mold, dip into the melted chocolate and sprinkle with crushed peanuts.
Place in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden and enjoy!

Substitutions and Variations
To make gluten-free: This recipe is naturally gluten-free.
To make dairy-free: Use dairy-free yogurt and milk.
To make nut-free: Swap the peanut butter for sunflower seed butter and omit the crushed peanuts.
Missing an ingredient? Try these:
- Milk or dark chocolate: Go for a white chocolate or skip it altogether.
- Peanut butter: Swap for a nut butter of choice.
I went for the classic peanut butter banana combo, however use whatever mix-ins you like. Here are some more ideas:
- Shredded coconut
- Crushed graham crackers
- Crumbled Oreos
- Drizzled white chocolate
- Drizzled caramel
Equipment
- High powered blender
- Popsicle molds (I love these silicone ones and they are super easy to pop out!)
- Popsicle sticks
Storage
These frozen Greek yogurt bars can be stored laying down in a large airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Top Tip
To avoid the frozen yogurt bars melting: Fill a large bowl with ice and place the frozen yogurt bars on the ice while you are dipping them in the melted chocolate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Technically any yogurt will work, however I choose Greek yogurt for its protein content and thick texture.
Although you can technically replace the bananas with any fruit of choice, I love the peanut butter, banana, chocolate flavour combination in this recipe. I also find bananas create the best texture when frozen. If you are looking for another fruit substitution, I recommend mango!
I highly recommend adding it, as Greek yogurt alone will create a more ‘icy’ popsicle instead of a creamy frozen yogurt bar. The peanut butter helps increase the fat content to create a texture similar to a fudgesicle!
Yes you 100% can. I recommend 2 scoops of chocolate or vanilla! These would make a great post workout treat if you add protein powder and skip the chocolate. However if you are just looking for a summer dessert the protein is definitely not needed.
My favorite protein to use is from Nuzest and you can try it with my code NOURISHEDBYNIC!
